Nagpur Violence: Female Officer Molested, DCP Targeted with Axe Strike

Nagpur Violence : Curfew has been imposed in 30 percent of the city after Monday's violence in Nagpur, Maharashtra. Policemen and security forces are deployed at various places. A large number of policemen, anti-riot squads and state reserve police have been deployed in sensitive and violence-affected areas. According to reports, 8000 policemen have been kept ready to deal with any emergency. While the situation in the violence-hit areas of Mahal and Hansapuri remains tense. Barricading has been done at various places in these areas.


FIR lodged against 1,200 people
On Tuesday, the police registered six FIRs against 1,200 people. These include names of Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) and Bajrang Dal members. These organizations are accused of burning the effigy of Mughal emperor Aurangzeb on Monday, after which the violence started. So far, the police have arrested more than 50 people in the violence case. 10 police teams are conducting a campaign to catch the other accused. Out of the 70 injured people, Raja Yusuf Khan (17) and Imran Ansari (40) are admitted in the government hospital. Their condition is said to be critical. They have been kept on ventilator.

Two women police personnel were attacked
Meanwhile, the administration and the police department are shocked by the things that have come to light regarding the rioters' preparations for violence. One such case is of an attack on two female police officers. According to a Times of India report, rioters had badly captured and surrounded a female police officer in a street in the Bhaladarpura area. The uniform of this female police officer was found torn. The rioters molested her. However, the female police officer somehow escaped the attack. While the rioters left another female police officer, ACP Anita More, alone on the road and threw stones at her.


DCP attacked with an axe
In this TOI report, an eyewitness said that Zonal DCP Niketan Kadam was attacked with an axe by a 15-year-old boy in Hansapuri. The boy aimed at the police officer's neck but he blocked the attack with his hand. The police officer was seriously injured. Kadam was later taken to New Era Hospital, where he underwent surgery. About 34 policemen were injured in the attack, including four DCPs.
